In 2003, Oregon State Parks Trust raised $5,260 for trail improvements on the Yachats 804 Trail, part of Smelt Sands Recreation Area, which is located in Yachats on the Central Oregon coast.
The trail was designed and built by Oregon Parks and Recreation Department for the primary use of pedestrians and people in wheelchairs. Besides its scenic and recreational resources, the vegetation along the 804 Trail has several rare and endangered species. These improvements to the Yachats 804 Trail will preserve and protect the rights of people to walk along the trail and to reach safe spots on the rocks and small beaches.
