Historic Columbia River Highway
Construction of the Highway.
Early transportation along the Columbia River.
As such, Oregon State Parks Trust is raising $15,000 for development of an educational curriculum and educational interpretive exhibits at the Visitor Contact Station of the Historic Columbia River Highway State Trail in the Columbia River Gorge.
The project will reach out to the trail users and connect children with the history of this magnificent roadway. The educational program will engage children in hands-on learning exercises by means of a 'traveling trunk show' taken to schools in a living history format. The educational curriculum will involve a rich multi-discipline learning approach using mathematics, physics and engineering as well as writing and poetry that the landscape evokes.
