Oregon State Parks Trust's Board 2010
Oregon State Parks Trust, the only statewide nonprofit dedicated to preserving and enhancing Oregon's state parks, has elected its 2010 leadership: B. Bennett Burns (Portland) as Chair, Kristen Stram Pempel (Portland) as Vice Chair, Charles F. "Chuck" Sams III (Portland) as Secretary, and Jon P. Stride (Portland) as Treasurer, and Lee J. Jimerson (Portland) as Past Chair.
| Bennet Burns, an independent landscape architect, is the ninth person to serve as the Trust's Chair. She has been active with the Advisory Committee for the Columbia Gorge National Scenic Area, American Society of Landscape Architects, the Stormwater Committee of the City of Portland, the Waterfront Park Committee of the City of Mosier, and Cascadia. Burns is an Accredited Professional in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). Her favorite parks are Tryon Creek, Oswald West and the state parks in the Columbia Gorge. |

| Kristen Stram Pempel, a development consultant, is serving her second term as Vice Chair. She is involved as a volunteer for Music Together and William Smith College. Pempel formerly served on the Board of the New York City Audubon Society. Her favorite state park is Hug Point. |

| Chuck Sams, the National Director for the Tribal & Native Lands Program for the Trust for Public Land, is serving his second term as Secretary. He serves as Vice Chair and on the Board of Directors of the Umatilla Tribal Community Foundation, Executive Committee of The Resources Innovations Group, and Board of the USS Ranger Museum Foundation, and is a Founding Member of the Young Environmental Professionals of Color. His favorite state parks are Jesse M. Honeyman and Wallowa Lake. |

| Jon Stride, in his first term as Treasurer, is an attorney with Tonkon Torp LLP. His current professional & community affiliations include City Club of Portland (Research Board, Member), Oregon State Bar, American Bar Association, Washington State Bar, Oregon Association of Defense Counsel (Trial Practice Group, Vice-Chair), Oregon State Bar Disciplinary Panel Counsel, Oregon League of Minority Voters (Board). His favorite state park is Collier Memorial. |

Four longtime Board members are stepping down at the end of the year: John Edmundson, Mary Jane Guyer, Theodore G. “Ted” Herzog, and Daniel H. "Dan" Skerritt. Each has served the Trust in various leadership capacities and will be sorely missed.
Founded in 1995, the Trust mission is to help safeguard Oregon's state parks and protect, cherish, and celebrate Oregon's great places. The organization has raised over $8.2 million to preserve Oregon’s state parks for present and future generations.
